The Cost Model Tool has been developed by National Road Carriers (Inc) for over thirty years. It is New Zealand's most up to date predictive cost model program for commercial motor vehicles. It is capable of predicting the annual cost of any size of Transport business from single vehicles to large complex fleets.

Comparisons can also be made between differing options for the same scenario assisting you to see the impact that option will have on your operating costs.

In addition to full reports it can also produce pictorial views of the business to assist in identifying key areas.

How to get the best result from the Computer Cost Model?

The computer cost model is a predictive tool that looks forward twelve months from the date you enter. Like any computer program the Cost Model is only as good as the information that you supply us with.

You can enter the data 24hrs a day and you can expect the report back within the next business day.

The Cost Model is Free to Members of National Road Carriers (Inc). Non members will be charged $75.00 + GST per report Pay using our Shop On-line .

The more accurate the information you enter is, the more precise the prediction will be. It has some default data already loaded, so in some cases you will not have to enter every field.
The first page is information about you, your contact details and who else you want the report sent to. Make sure the contact number you enter here is the number you will have on during normal business hours.

The next section collects information on your business including general overheads and expected annual turnover. If your business has a loan that is not associated to a vehicle this is where you enter it. For example you may have paid goodwill or there may be a building or land. Costs and revenue entered in this section are distributed among the vehicles that you operate.

The final section deals with the vehicles, trailers and any item of plant that the business has. Each vehicle, trailer and item of plant has its own page. You will need financial details including any loan and the current value and operational information such as annual kilometres travelled to complete this section. For example if you are costing a B-train you will complete one truck and two trailer pages. There is no limit to the number of vehicles which allows even large and complex fleets to be entered.

Items of plant can be entered separately which is useful if you want to separate out things like fridge motors, cranes or if you have a piece of machinery such as a bobcat.

If you have the information ready you should be able to enter the data in less than ten minutes. The report is completed by a member of our executive team who will contact you if there is any further information required.
